# Public vs private campaigns and magic links

Choose public or private GIMI campaigns, control whether submissions are visible, and invite creators with tracked magic links.

Decide whether a campaign is open to the wider GIMI creator community or limited to selected creators. Separately, decide whether **submissions** are visible to other creators.

## When should I run a public campaign?

A public campaign is available to eligible creators on GIMI. Depending on settings, it may also appear in **Discover**.

Use public when you want broad participation, new creators, volume, and the brief is not confidential.

Benefits: greater reach, more variety, easier discovery, access outside your existing network.

{% hint style="info" %}
Public campaigns can produce more submissions. Be ready to review regularly, and keep requirements and moderation rules clear.
{% endhint %}

### Showing a campaign in Discover

Activate Discover visibility when you want creators beyond your current network. Before you do, confirm the campaign page is complete, the thumbnail is strong, the brief is clear, rewards are visible, and your team can handle incoming work.

## When should I run a private campaign?

A private campaign is limited to invited or approved creators.

Use private when you already have a community, need selected skills or demographics, the brief is sensitive, you want more control, you are offering higher-value work, or you are running an ambassador program.

Private campaigns are a good exclusive path for [Creative Partners](/gimi/for-brands/creator-network-creative-partners-tags-and-leaderboard.md).

### Can creators apply?

Some private campaigns allow creators to apply. Your team can review profiles, previous work, social channels, GIMI activity, skills, and fit — then approve or decline.

Application approval gives more control and needs active management.

## Should submissions be public?

You may be able to choose whether contributions are visible to other creators.

**GIMI generally recommends keeping submissions private** during most brand campaigns. Private submissions can reduce copying, protect original ideas, avoid creator comparison, reduce disagreements, make moderation more comfortable, and protect unpublished content.

Public submissions can make sense for community voting or when visibility is part of the concept.

## How do I invite creators with a magic link?

Private access links make it easier to invite selected creators. Anyone using the link may still need to create or sign in to a GIMI account, but the link gives them access to that private campaign.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Open the private campaign, then the Members or Access section.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select **Generate Link**, then **Create New Link**. Name the link if that option is available.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Copy the link and share it with the intended group.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

You can share through email, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, social DMs, community platforms, newsletters, or partner platforms.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Do not publish a private link publicly unless you are comfortable with wider access.
{% endhint %}

### Tracking private link activity

The link dashboard may show visits, sign-ups, creators who joined, campaign members, and conversion from visit to participation.

Use different links for different communities when you can: existing network, agency community, Discord, newsletter, partner platform, direct invitations.

### Revoking a link

If a private link is shared beyond the intended audience, create a new link and restrict or deactivate the previous one where the platform allows. Contact GIMI support when access needs to be restricted urgently.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://gimi.gitbook.io/gimi/for-brands/public-vs-private-campaigns-and-magic-links.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
