# Rewards

Configure approval bonuses, performance pay, Spotlight, reward pools and limits.

Creators earn through the reward structure you configure. The options depend on campaign type.

| Reward              | Sourcing | Distribution | Contest |
| ------------------- | -------- | ------------ | ------- |
| **Approval bonus**  | Yes      | Yes          | No      |
| **Performance pay** | No       | Yes          | No      |
| **Spotlight**       | Yes      | Yes          | No      |
| **Prizes**          | No       | No           | Yes     |

Example sourcing mix: $20 approval bonus and $50 Spotlights. Example distribution mix: $20 approval bonus, performance pay on eligible views and engagement, and $50 Spotlights. Set amounts by effort, production time, expected reach and how you plan to use the content.

## Reward pool

The reward pool is the total budget for creator rewards on a campaign.

1. Open campaign reward settings.
2. Enter the total budget for creators.
3. Configure each reward method.
4. Review the maximum exposure.
5. Confirm your campaign budget covers it, then publish.

Rewards come from the pool while budget remains. When it is used up, new submissions stop earning.

{% hint style="success" %}
A larger budget does not guarantee better results. Brief, creator fit and structure matter as much. Campaigns start from $200. For a first campaign, around **$2,000** is a good test pool.
{% endhint %}

## Approval bonus

A fixed reward when a submission is approved. If the bonus is $20, each qualifying approved submission earns $20.

1. Open **Reward Structure** and activate **Approval Bonus**.
2. Enter the amount per approved submission.
3. Check submission limits and the pool, then save.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Approval triggers the reward and transfers ownership of the content to you. It cannot be reversed. Do not use approval as a bookmark. Use Shortlist instead.
{% endhint %}

## Performance pay

For **distribution campaigns only**. Rewards the social results of an approved post: views, likes, comments, shares, reposts, bookmarks, or other signals you enable.

1. Open **Reward Structure** and activate **Performance Rewards**.
2. Choose which signals to reward and set rates.
3. Set a maximum payout per submission and save.

You do not need to reward every signal. Awareness campaigns can prioritise views. Conversation campaigns can prioritise comments and shares.

Performance pay is calculated on Clean Engagement, so botted or boosted numbers are not paid.

## Spotlight

An extra reward for **outstanding** content, on top of approval.

1. In **Reward Structure**, activate **Spotlight Rewards** and set the amount.
2. In **Submissions**, open an exceptional piece and select **Spotlight**.

Approval means the content qualifies. Spotlight means it is exceptional. Not every approved submission should be Spotlighted.

## Custom rewards

Add custom rules when you need them: view ranges, engagement thresholds, milestones, or fixed rewards for specific actions such as best story. Tier rewards so your creator partners earn more.

## Limits

| Limit                               | What it does                                                                                       |
| ----------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Maximum payout per submission** | Caps what one post can earn, so one viral post cannot consume the pool. |
| **Maximum submissions per creator** | Prevents flooding and repetitive entries. Two or three suits most campaigns. |
| **Submissions in review** | Caps how many pending submissions a creator can hold at once. Set it to what your team can review. |

Contests use prizes instead. See Contest campaigns.
